Tonight, July 25th, NewFilmmakers presents OH, INVERTED WORLD as well as a Documentary Series about Andy Warhol and a Short Film Program with Silent Films.
Our 6:00 PM Documentary Series presents two films about
Andy Warhol's Factory. Our first film is Jeffrey Wengrofsky THE PARTY IN
Taylor Mead'S KITCHEN (2011, 11 minutes). After reading Jack Kerouac’s On the Road,
Taylor Mead, the scion of Michigan’s Democratic Party political boss Harry Mead, left his Grosse Point home and Merrill Lynch sinecure for a life hitchhiking around the US. Upon arriving in San Francisco, his ability to write and perform clever, bawdy, homoerotic poems made Taylor an instant hit with the Beatnik scene. After meeting Allen Ginsberg at a poetry function, Taylor moved to the Lower East Side of New York, then the Beatnik capital of the world. Taylor was soon a Warhol superstar, drove Warhol across country to Los Angeles, and he came to appear, most famously, in 'Tarzan and Jane Revisited...Sort of,' and most notoriously, as the star of '
Taylor Mead's Ass' in 1964. Our second film is Claudio Romano & Mauro John Capece IN THE FABULOUS UNDERGROUND (2012, 50 minutes) is about Anton Perich: Brilliant Croatian artist, naturalized New Yorker;
Andy Warhol's Interview Magazine photographer and active member of the Factory since early seventies.
Our 7:15 PM Short Film Program presents three silent films. Hasan Can Dagli EVERYDAY (2011, 7 minutes) is about five days of a man obsessed with capturing a woman from the streets of New York. Everyday is influenced by the Silent Film Era, and criticizes post modern relationships in our day.
Ann Kelly EMO (2011, 30 minutes) is a short silent film focused on our character 'EMO'. Emo is homeless, naive yet clever in dealing with his surroundings and the events that happen upon him. In Charles Di Meglio LORD ARTHUR SAVILE'S CRIME (2011, 43 minutes) Arthur meets a chiromantist at a party given by his aunt Gladys in the nineteenth century London. His life is about to change.
Our 8:45 Feature Presentation is Daniel Fox,
Jacob Cohen, and Terence Krey OH, INVERTED WORLD (2011, 99 minutes) 'Oh, Inverted World' is a sci-fi indie dramedy of four twentysomethings who reluctantly return to their home town from graduating college only to find out that the Moon is falling into the Earth.
