The 34th season of the New York Philharmonic Ensembles series - chamber concerts showcasing Musicians from the Orchestra performing classical masterpieces and modern compositions in an intimate setting - will begin on Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Merkin Concert Hall.

The opening concert will include Kevin Puts's Credo; Schulhoff's Concertino for Flute, Viola, and Double Bass; Bizet's Carmen Suite for Five Cellos, in an arrangement by W. Thomas-Mifune; and Mendelssohn's String Quartet in E-flat major, Op. 44, No. 3.

The Ensembles series' fall season continues at Merkin Concert Hall on Sunday, December 3, 2017, with a concert featuring Klein's String Trio; Beethoven's Octet for Winds, Op. 103; and Shostakovich's Piano Quintet. The fourth performance of the series, Sunday, January 14, 2018, will feature Beethoven's String Quartet No. 1; Turina's Piano Quartet; Roesgen-Champion's Concert No. 2; and Brahms's Piano Trio No. 3. The December 3 program will also be performed at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts at Queens College on Sunday, November 5, 2017.

The 2017-18 New York Philharmonic Ensembles series will continue with three additional performances on February 18, April 15, and May 27. More information on the 2017-18 season of Ensembles concerts can be found at nyphil.org/ensembles.

Since 1984 the New York Philharmonic Ensembles series has allowed audiences to experience the artistry of the Philharmonic's virtuosos in an intimate setting. Ensembles concerts are also offered on the Orchestra's international and domestic tours, on separate chamber music tours, and at locations throughout New York City.

The New York Philharmonic Ensembles concerts are funded, in part, by the Zubin Mehta Fund for the Orchestra, an endowment fund created to honor the accomplishments of the Philharmonic's former Music Director, Zubin Mehta.

Subscriptions for the series of 6 concerts at Merkin Concert Hall are $168; single tickets are $40. They are available through the Merkin Concert Hall Box Office at 129 West 67th Street, New York, New York 10023.
