The New York Philharmonic This Week - a two-hour, national, weekly radio program of concerts by the New York Philharmonic - continues the week of October 19 with a presentation from the Philharmonic's seventh annual residency in Vail, Colorado, as part of the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival. The concert program, from July 30, 2009, features Music Director Alan Gilbert leading the Orchestra in Mozart's Symphony No. 41, Jupiter, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 7. The final broadcast in October features a Summertime Classics program from July 7–8, 2009, with conductor Bramwell Tovey: J. Strauss II's Overture to The Gypsy Baron, Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 2 with soloist Simone Dinnerstein, Brahms's Hungarian Dances Nos. 4 and 10, and R. Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier Suite.

Screen and stage actor Alec Baldwin hosts The New York Philharmonic This Week beginning with the 2009–10 season. He received the 2009 and 2008 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his starring role in the television series 30 Rock. The multi-award-winning actor made his Philharmonic debut narrating the New York Philharmonic's Inside the Music program on October 10, 2008, and narrated an additional Inside the Music program on January 23, 2009.

The November broadcasts begin with a program from June 2009, with former Music Director Lorin Maazel conducting two of his own compositions, Monaco Fanfares and Farewells, and concluding with Sibelius's Symphony No. 2. The next week presents the New York Philharmonic's 2009–10 Opening Night Gala program, with Mr. Gilbert leading the World Premiere of Magnus Lindberg's EXPO (New York Philharmonic Commission); Messiaen's Poèmes Pour Mi with soprano Renée Fleming; and Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique. In the following week, Neeme Järvi leads the Orchestra in Beethoven's Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus, Mozart's Symphony No. 38, Prague, and Zemlinsky's Lyric Symphony, featuring soprano Hillevi Martinpelto (Philharmonic debut) and baritone Thomas Hampson, the Orchestra's Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence. For the fourth November broadcast, Xian Zhang, former Philharmonic Associate Conductor (The Arturo Toscanini Chair), conducts Haydn's Symphony No. 95, Martin?'s Piano Concerto No. 4, Incantation, with Garrick Ohlsson as soloist, and Sibelius's Symphony No. 1. November's broadcasts conclude with Riccardo Muti leading the Philharmonic in Liszt's Les Préludes, Elgar's In the South, and selections from Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet.

The New York Philharmonic This Week airs locally in the New York metropolitan area on 105.9 FM WQXR Thursdays at 9:00 p.m. [Check local listings]. In addition to Sirius XM Radio, concerts are available on the Philharmonic's Website, nyphil.org, for two weeks following the broadcast. The broadcasts are produced and syndicated to 290 outlets nationwide by the WFMT Radio Network. Emmy Award-winning actor Alec Baldwin is the new host of the program, WFMT's Mark Travis is the broadcast producer, and New York Philharmonic Audio Director Lawrence Rock is the engineer and music producer.
