New York Classical Theatre -- New York City's ONLY all-free Off-Broadway theatre -- is celebrating William Shakespeare's life and the 400th anniversary of his death with the company's 17th season. Immediately following New York Classical Theatre's current, record-breaking production of A Midsummer Night's Dream (currently playing its final week of performances in Carl Schurz Park), is Shakespeare's epic romance, THE WINTER'S TALE.
Shakespeare's THE WINTER'S TALE is a story of family and life-long friendship torn apart by jealousy. Throughout an epic journey of 16 years-including an appearance by a bear -- forgiveness and reconciliation is finally achieved through the miraculous fulfillment of Apollo's oracle... or, as Paulina tells us, "It is required / You do awake your faith."
THE WINTER'S TALE is directed by New York Classical Theatre Founder and Artistic Director Stephen Burdman, and will begin performances on Monday, July 18 in The Battery at 7:00pm ( meet outside Castle Clinton, via the 1 train to South Ferry or the 4/5 to Bowling Green ) . The production will run nightly at 7:00pm , except Thursdays (July 18 through August 7).
Following the The Battery/Castle Clinton engagement, THE WINTER'S TALE will then play at Brooklyn Bridge Park on Tuesday, August 9 through Sunday, August 14, 2016. No performance on Thursday, August 11. All performances begin at 7:00pm. (Meet @ Fulton Ferry Landing on Pier 1, via F train to York, 2/3 to Clark or A/C to High.)
