SCRANTON, Pa., April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ Celebrating the latest artwork of New York-based artists Eric and Heather ChanSchatz, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) in Madison, Wisconsin, is hosting a unique exhibition that allows the Madison public to participate in the creation of new artwork. To make this collaborative artwork project possible on a city-wide scale, ChanSchatz partnered with Vycom, which provided its Celtec material, fabricated into 66 custom tables to serve as the structure for the community's participation.

The "Eric and Heather ChanSchatz: 22nd Century" exhibition embodies a collaborative moment in art where community and creativity come together and produce a composition that is reflective of the spirit of Madison," said Doug Nelson, Regional President for BMO Harris Bank, exhibit sponsor.

ChanSchatz selected Vycom's Celtec material for the ultra-modern tables, having worked with it for past projects. The pair was impressed by the brightness, durability and feel of the material. These features and the skilled fabrication team at Vycom helped to bring the artists' vision to life while meeting the demands of daily use by museum visitors over a four month period. Visitors to the exhibition select from among 70 themes, sitting at the corresponding table to complete a questionnaire on that theme and about Madison in general. ChanSchatz then creates artwork inspired by their responses.

"The public is not only invited to view the artwork, but to participate in its creation," explains Heather ChanSchatz. "The artwork becomes a continually unfolding story."

According to the artists and MMoCA staff, the Celtec tables are a sculptural element of the artwork, designed as a seamless element of the exhibit. "We wanted visitors to intuitively interact with the tables and create dialogues," said ChanSchatz. "The elevated purpose and careful fabrication of the tables allowed them to foster art creation and themselves be works of art in the exhibition."

The exhibition of these internationally-known artists, "Eric and Heather ChanSchatz: 22nd Century" is on view in the main galleries of MMoCA from now until May 17, 2015.
