New Work Wednesdays, a weekly web series created by Joshua Hinck, premieres today, Sept. 24, with an interview and jam session featuring Joe Iconis (The Black Suits, Things to Ruin, Smash).
Each week, composers and lyricists share themselves and their art with a discussion and song. In the premiere episode, Iconis shares how he entered the world of musical theater, his terrifying first memory and the origin of the Family.
"These are artists that may or may not be familiar to you-that's what I love about this; meeting risk takers in the industry," says Hinck. "I hope it is useful for people in many different ways-students and teachers, producers, and people who are just curious about what is going on in the business."
Guests for the first season include Drew Gasparini (Make Me Bad, Smash, Crazy, Just Like Me), Joel B. New (Standalone, To Hell and Back, Something New Podcast), Anna K. Jacobs (POP!, Teeth), Kamala Sankaram (Miranda, Thumbprint), Scott Burkell and Paul Loesel (LMNOP, Sorta Love Songs, The Extraordinary Ordinary), Gaby Alter (Band Geeks, Nobody Loves You), Jen Eden, and Will Van Dyke (Chasing the Day, Magnificent Climb).
