American Theatre of Actors (James Jennings, Artistic Director) will present the world premiere of Barry Primus' Wonder Comes on the Seventh Day, directed by Mr. Primus, with original choreography by Julie Arenel, music by Galt MacDermot and produced by Oren Bonen. The first performance will begin on April 27, opening on Sunday May 8 at 3PM – May 20 at ATA (314 West 54th Street, 4th Floor).
A sunny vacation locale acts as the backdrop to "Grandma's eighty-something" birthday party. This happy family reunion revives life long arguments amongst the partiers including Grandma. Under a siege of floods and turbulent skies, Primus's new dramatic comedy Wonder Comes on the 7th Day, follows a dysfunctional family's search for acceptance, forgiveness and enlightenment.
The cast includes: Tali Friedman, Jeremy Lawrence, Lucille Patton, Barbara Spiegel, Charles Stransky and Rod Sedgwick. Creative team includes: Donald Eastman (Sets), Kathleen Leary (Costumes), Marty Vreeland (Lights), Chirs Rummel (Sound) and Casey Smith (Props).
Barry Primus (playwright/director) a native New Yorker, Primus is primarily an actor out of the Actors Studio, but has also doubled and tripled as writer and director. Primus worked on stage for the first decade of his career, then made his screen bow in The Brotherhood (1968). Additional films include Boxcar Bertha (1972), Heartland (1979) Night Games (1980) and Guilty by Suspicion (1991). Primus was also regularly seen on the TV series "Cagney and Lacey" (1982-88).
