New Play North of Providence Opens Off-Bway May 24

Small Pond Entertainment will present Edward Allan Baker's North of Providence, directed by Glory Sims Bowen. The show will play a two-week limited engagement at Altered Stages (212 W. 29th street 2nd floor between 7th and 8th avenues). Performances begin Thursday, May 24th and continue until Sunday, June 3rd. Opening Night is Thursday, May 24th  (8 p.m.).

"On the last day of their father¹s life, Bobbie and Carol the two youngest children in their family of five, make an attempt for reconciliation and
peace in their lives. The year is 1984, and the place is North Providence. North of Providence deals with topics ranging from Bobbie's self-destruction to Carol's fight to be somebody. The piece relentlessly uncovers the deep and secretive issues of a family turning to shambles," according to press materials.

The production features scenic design by Kerry Chipman, costume design by Irma Escobar, and lighting design by Ryan Metzler. Maggie Surovell is the dialect coach and Amanda Adili the stage manager.

The show plays the following schedule through Sunday, June 3rd: Thursday, May 24th at 8 p.m., Friday, May 25th at 8 p.m., Saturday, May 26th at 8 p.m., Sunday, May 27th at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 30th at 8 p.m., Thursday, May 31st at 8 p.m., Friday, June 1st at 8 p.m., Saturday, June 2nd at p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday, June 3rd at 2 p.m.
