As part of the East to Edinburgh Festival, The Splinter Group will present the New York Premiere of Christine Jorgensen Reveals, conceived and performed by Ethyl Eichelberger Award-finalist Bradford Louryk (Klytaemnestra's Unmentionables, redbird, First You're Born) beginning on Tuesday, July 12th at 9 PM at 59E50 Theaters (between Park and Madison Avenues); Josh Hecht (Escape: 6 Ways to Get Away!, The Penetration Play) will direct.

"George Jorgensen always knew he was different. In 1952, he traveled from New York to Denmark to undergo a sex change operation. When he returned as Christine, she was the subject of curiosity and controversy, and the most famous woman in America," state the show's production notes. "In Christine Jorgensen Reveals, Bradford Louryk brings his lipsynched recreation of America's first famous transsexual's only recorded interview to life. The result is a disarming and enlightening new play about personhood and the nature of humanity in which Ms. Jorgensen – displaying extraordinary intellect, charisma, poise, and grace – speaks candidly about her sensational life."

This New York premiere production utilizes the original recording, which has been digitally remastered and enhanced, and features costumes designed by 2005 Ecco Domani-winning fashion designer Mary Ping, wigs designed by Jason P. Hayes ("Party Monster," "Camp," "Garden State," Debbie Does Dallas), and properties designed by Jung K. Griffin, with makeup provided by MAC Cosmetics. The play is being presented in New York before it heads off to the 2005 Edinburgh International Fringe Festival, where it will begin its run on August 6, 2005

The performance schedule for Christine Jorgensen Reveals will be July 12-14, and July 26 -28 at 9 PM. All tickets are $20, with student rush tickets available for $10 (cash only, day of performance, subject to availability).
