According to the Global Post, a real-life battle between man and nature is playing out in Siberia as hundreds of wolves are being culled by government-sanctioned hunters in order to protect citizens from animal attacks. Author Tania Nichols' new book, "Wolves and Monsters" (published by Xlibris AU) subverts this, as she tells a story from the other side, with the threatened wolves as the protagonists, while an environmentalist strives to protect them.
The tale takes place in Siberia and follows heroine Toni Renford and her wolves, who are brought together by strange and unique circumstances, forming a pack unlike any other in the world. After an encounter with ruthless killers nearly destroys the lives of the wolves, Toni and the wolves must resort to daring heroics in order to have a chance at survival. Their struggles display the bond humans can develop with the most unlikely of creatures. The author bases her narrative on her own experiences owning and caring for Siberian Huskies, as well as the nightmares she had after losing one of her beloved canines.
"Wolves and Monsters" is a thriller with underlying themes and messages that come straight from Nichols' heart, meant to entertain readers and show them the plight of the wolves while taking them to the majestic landscape of Siberia.
