A new recording of Les Miserables, Broadway and the West End's longest running musical, will air on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday, October 8 at 2PM EST.   The recording features the current London cast.

Produced by Cameron Mackintosh, a new production of Les Miserables begins performances at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre on October 24 and opens on November 9th.

The new production will star the previously-announced Alexander Gemignani (Sweeney Todd, Assassins) as noble on-the-run convict Jean Valjean, Norm Lewis (Chicago, The Wild Party, Side Show) as his persistent adversary Javert, with Tony Award-winner Gary Beach (La Cage aux Folles, The Producers) as Thenardier, Celia Keenan-Bolger (Spelling Bee) as Eponine, Tony-nominee Daphne Rubin-Vega (Bernarda Alba, Anna in the Tropics, Rent) as Fantine, Jenny Galloway as Madame Thenardier, Aaron Lazar (The Light in the Piazza) as Enjolras, Adam Jacobs as Marius, and Ali Ewoldt as Cosette.

With music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, with original French text by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel and additional material by James Fenton, Les Miserables is based on the sprawling novel by Victor Hugo.  Directed by Trevor Nunn and John Caird, Les Miserables is designed by John Napier with lighting by David Hersey, costumes by Andreane Neofitou and sound by Andrew Bruce.  The show originally ran on Broadway from 1987 through 2003.

In London, the show plays the Queen's Theatre.  It stars John Owen-Jones as Jean Valjean, Jon Lee as Marius, Sabrina Aloueche as Eponine, Hans Peter Janssens as Javert, Chris Vincent as Thenardier, Tracie Bennett as Madame Thenardier, Sophia Ragavelas as Fantine, Gina Beck as Cosette, and Simon Bailey as Enjolras.
