New Kirsten Childs Musical to Workshop at Barrington Lab

Kirsten Childs, writer of the book, music and lyrics to musical The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin, will workshop her new musical, Funked Up Fairy Tales, this summer at Barrington Stage's Musical Theater Lab in Pittsfield, Mass. Variety.com reports that the show will be directed by Altar Boyz scriptwriter Kevin Del Aguila and run July 31-Aug. 11 in the Berkshires.

Composer William Finn is Musical Theatre Lab Artistic Producer; the Lab debuted last year. Barry Wyner's Calvin Berger, a contemporary take on Cyrano de Bergerac in a high school setting, will run June 26-July14 and kick off the series. A third musical, yet to be announced, will also join the series.
