New Group Hosts April 15 The Accomplices Talkback

The New Group will host a post-show talkback featuring The Accomplices playwright Bernard Weinraub and Dr. Rebecca Kook (daughter of Hillel Kook – the central figure in the play).

Led by Dr. Rafael Medoff (President of The Wyman Institute for Holocaust Studies), this discussion about the history behind the play will follow the 2:00 PM performance on Sunday, April 15 (special added show). Directed by Ian Morgan, The Accomplices will run at The New Group at Theatre Row from March 20 – May 5, with official opening on April 9.

"In The Accomplices, Hillel Kook arrives in the U.S. at the beginning of World War II, fresh from the underground resistance to the British in Palestine. Under the alias Peter Bergson, he leads a small group of activists seeking aid for the rescue of Jews in Europe. Bergson is shocked to find his efforts blocked by both the Roosevelt administration and the Jewish establishment. Undaunted, Bergson and his colleagues organize a bold campaign in a desperate race against time and fear of reprisal. Based on actual events, this play is the true story of one man's fight on American soil to shatter a conspiracy of silence and inaction. Bernard Weinraub was a long-time reporter for The New York Times. The Accomplices, his first play, won the Stellar Network new playwright's contest in New York last year," state production notes.

The Accomplices will play at The New Group at Theatre Row (The Acorn Theater / 410 West 42nd Street, between 9th & 10th Avenue). Schedule: Monday–Saturday at 8:00 PM & Saturday at 2:00 PM. Please note: the 2:00 PM matinee on Sunday, April 15 is an added performance.
