Neil Patrick Harris to Host Spike TV's Video Game Awards, 12/11

Acclaimed television, film, stage and video game star Neil Patrick Harris has been handed over the controller and will host Spike TV's 2010 "Video Game Awards." Broadcasting in over 175 territories worldwide from Los Angeles, the "VGAs" will celebrate the best in gaming on Saturday, December 11 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

"Neil is a big gamer and a brilliant host," said Casey Patterson, executive producer Spike TV's "Video Game Awards." "Video games are taking over the world and Neil is perfect to lead the 'VGA's' in celebrating the best of the year and the future of gaming."

Some of the biggest names from the world of video games, Hollywood and music will gather to pay tribute to the outstanding achievements within the video game industry during the past year at Spike TV's 2010 "Video Game Awards." Among the star-studded list of presenters, attendees and nominees include AnnaLynne McCord, "Thor: God of Thunder" video game star Chris Hemsworth, Dane Cook, Olivia Munn, Denise Richards, Academy Award nominated film director Guillermo Del Toro, "Halo: Reach" star and VGA 2010 nominee Nathan Fillion, Nick Swardson, Tony Hawk and cast members from the hit series "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia" Danny DeVito, Kaitlin Olson and Rob McElhenney. Additional guest appearances will be announced shortly.

Additionally, Grammy Award-winning rock band and "Gran Turismo 5" soundtrack contributors My Chemical Romance will be performing at this year's live event.

The show will feature 13 world premieres of the most anticipated games of 2011 and beyond. World premiere titles confirmed so far include "Batman: Arkham City," "Resistance 3" and "Thor: God of Thunder," as well as the next game from Studio of the Year nominee BioWare, the debut of Guillermo Del Toro's video game and a special "Gears of War" announcement. More titles will be confirmed shortly.

Director Hamish Hamilton ("The 82nd Annual Academy Awards," "Super Bowl XLIV Halftime Show," "2010 MTV Video Music Awards"), Ian Stewart ("The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show," "Laureus World Sports Awards") and Casey Patterson, senior vice president, event production and talent development for Spike TV, will serve as executive producers of Spike TV's 2010 "Video Game Awards." The 2010 "Video Game Awards" are produced by Done and Dusted Inc.
