It was announced today that James L. Nederlander, President of the Nederlander Organization, has acquired the rights to produce a musical version of Michael Jackson's "Thriller."

Thriller The Musical will feature the music and lyrics of the King of Pop and include songs from the world's all-time best selling album, "Thriller" and the 7× Multi-Platinum selling album, "Off The Wall."

This musical will be the exclusive Michael Jackson authorized version of "Thriller" and Jackson will participate in every aspect of the creative process.

As quoted by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, through his spokesperson, Dr. Tohme Tohme, "The Nederlanders and Michael Jackson represent live theater and musical excellence, so let the music begin."

"I love the idea of making Thriller a musical. Girl meets boy, they fall in love, boy has big secret, now what..." says Nederlander.

The musical will be based on the most successful music video of all time, a 14-minute horror film spoof in which a young couple are out on a date on a beautiful full moon evening, when suddenly the young man, played by Jackson, turns into a werewolf.

Jackson is The Guinness World Record holding "Most Successful Entertainer of All Time," two time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee with 13 Grammy Awards, 13 Number One singles - more than any other male artist in the Hot 100 era-and the sale of over 750 million units worldwide.

James L. Nederlander is the third generation of a family known for owning and operating theatres around the world as well as theatrical productions, cultural presentations and popular music attractions.
