The Navigators Theater Company has announced that The Lift-Off New Play Series will feature the work of two playwrights from The Kilroys' Honorable Mentions 2015. The Kilroys, "a gang of playwrights and producers in LA who are done talking about gender parity and are taking action" by bringing attention to exciting new work written by women, has recognized Sarah Saltwick's play A Perfect Robot, which will be read as part of the series, as an honorable mention. In addition, Navigators Artistic Director Bella Poynton's play Speed of Light was also an honorable mention. We are excited to be working with such fabulous female writers!

The Lift-Off New Play Series will be two nights of readings at The Players Theatre (115 McDougal Street) highlighting on-stage science fiction with readings of ten new scifi plays.

The Kilroys are a group of LA based playwrights taking action with regards to gender parity in the theater. They mobilize others in their field and leverage their own power to support each other. The 2015 List includes the results of the second annual industry survey of excellent new plays by female and trans-gender playwrights. It is a tool for producers committed to ending the systematic under-representation of female and trans playwrights in the American Theater.

The Navigators seek to produce new Science Fiction and Fantasy inspired theater that departs from the traditional theater-going experience. Below is the information on our upcoming Lift-Off New Play Series on July 10th and 11th at the Players Theater in New York City.
