British actress, and Bond Girl, Naomie Harris will wear this year's Red Carpet Green Dress to the Academy Awards. The initiative was founded by actress and environmentalist Suzy Amis Cameron (wife of James Cameron). This year's dress is designed by 20-year-old Ghana-born designer Michael Badger. "Michael's entry was entirely inspired by nature, which should inspire us all to care a little more than we do," said Amis Cameron.
Vivienne Westwood is serving as Badger's mentor and was a member of this year's judging committee. "I think Red Carpet Green Dress is a great idea and I also wanted to tap into Suzy's research about ethical fabrics for my own work," said Westwood, who will help Badger create his design with her team of dressmakers.
Samata Angel, RCGD's global campaign director, said Harris was selected not just for her beauty and talent but because she shares similar values, adding: "Our project is about considered creations - beautiful fashion that does not cost the earth."
