NaTasha Yvette Williams Leads ONE GIRL'S STORY Reading at Middle Collegiate Church, 10/28

A staged reading of This One Girl's Story will be presented on October 28th, 2009 at Middle Collegiate Church in New York City. This new musical, inspired by the life of Sakia Gunn (1988-2003), is described as the story of "One girl on the way to being a woman ... and her friends... live, laugh, love and remember the time... the one night when they could be exactly who they were... before someone decided they couldn't."  The reading will begin at 7pm.

Featuring a book by Bil Wright, with music and lyrics by Dionne McClain-Freeney, the reading will be directed by Devanand Janki.

The cast features NaTasha Yvette Williams (Sophia in Broadway's "The Color Purple").  She will be joined by Sadrina Renee, Angela Grovey, Maria-Christina Oliveras, Nik Walker, AureLia Williams and Kim Grier.

A special talkback on sexual orientation-based crimes hosted by Dr. Jacqueline Lewis will follow the reading with special guests.

The performance, held at the Middle Collegiate Church in New York City, is free with a donation to for Middle's Gay and Lesbian ministry. For more information visit www.middlechurch.org.
