"New Plays for Young Audiences," a series of family-friendly productions sponsored by the Program in Educational Theatre at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, has announced three new plays that will launch the series' 10th season.
Scheduled plays are as follows, according to press notes
The Milk Dragon, by Suzan Seder, directed by Jim Hancock, June 9-10.
"A colorful, adventurous political fantasy that follows the journey of two young people from a village where everything is perfect to a forest where everything is not and concludes in a visionary and imaginary place where everything is possible."
A Tale of Two Cities, by Dwayne Hartford, directed by David Saar, June 16-17.
"An adaptation of Charles Dickens's novel and follows the perilous intrigues of the French Revolution. It is the exciting story of a man who gives up his life so another might live."
1491, by Carl Miller, directed by Tony Graham, June 23-24.
"Re-creates life in Granada during a golden age where rumors buzz, promises are made, dangers exist, and betrayals are exacted. Told by kings, soldiers, beggars, musicians, and dancers, 1491 is an epic for youth which will open the imagination to different lost worlds and new futures."
