The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Gorgeous Entertainment will present Deep Cover, a noir musical, in performances Monday 10/2, Thursday 10/5, Friday 10/16, and Saturday 10/17 at Sweet Caroline's.

DEEP COVER is the story of a once-famous rocker who collides with an alluring young woman who has a clever plan for his come back - one that hinges on murder. DEEP COVER, which takes place in a music club, will be staged in a perfectly fitting venue: SWEET CAROLINE'S.  Says director Dan Safer, "Once the audience enters SWEET CAROLINE'S. We plan to make people feel they are literally living inside the show. It won't be just a show. It will be an adventure."

DEEP COVER, the noir musical which premieres as part of the New York Musical Theater Festival, has announced their creative team that includes, a book and score by Michael Wolk, direction and choreography by Dan Safer (Witness Relocation), and music direction by Broadway icon Larry Pressgrove [title of show]. 

Starring in DEEP COVER are Andy Kelso (Mamma Mia on Broadway), Sean Haberle (Sex and the City, Hamlet), Kate Ferber (Factory Girls at Ars Nova and upcoming at NAMT, One Child Born: The Music of Laura Nyro), and Erin Mosher (Crazy for You, The Spitfire Grill).

Michael Wolk is CEO and Co-founder of Gorgeous Entertainment Inc., a New York-based company which produces theater, film and special events including PACIFIC OVERTURES on Broadway, and Japan Day @ Central Park, now entering its fourth year . He has written mystery novels (THE BEAST ON BROADWAY, Signet), plays (FEMME FATALE, Broadway Play Publishing) and films (INNOCENT BLOOD, Warner Bros., directed by John Landis). He has also directed plays and films including the award-winning documentary, YOU THINK YOU REALLY KNOW ME: THE GARY WILSON STORY, which screened at the Film Society of Lincoln Center and is now available on Plexifilm DVD. He performed as a singer songwriter in bars in his native Minneapolis before coming to New York to become rich and famous writing musicals.

Dan Safer originally hails from the wild suburbs of New Jersey, and is artistic director of the dance/theater company Witness Relocation (www.witnessrelocation.org). His work has been presented all over, including Off-Broadway, The Ontological Theater, La MaMa, Dance Theater Workshop (four consecutive seasons), The Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle, Fury Festival (San Francisco), Revolutions Festival (New Mexico), Fuse Box (Austin, Texas), in Atlanta, at Les Subsistances (Lyon, France), Patravadi Theatre (Bangkok), Theater Krudttonden (Denmark), The Open Look Festival (St. Petersburg, Russia), Bytom Dance Festival (Poland), The National Opera House in Cluj, Romania, the CUNY Prelude Festival, Dixon Place, Danspace Project; he has choreographed rock videos, operas, films, and fashion shows. Performer with Ridge Theater, Jane Comfort, John Moran, Mabou Mines, the Blacklips Performance Cult, Hong Kong choreographer Dick Wong, and others. He is faculty at NYU, and teaches workshops across the US and Internationally. He was a 2007-9 recipient of the Six Points Fellowship (Performance), and has won two NY Innovative Theater Awards. He used to be a go-go dancer, and once choreographed the Queen of Thailand's Birthday Party.

Larry Pressgrove has been with [title of show] in all its incarnations. He was music director for Cats (B'way and nat'l tour), Les Misérables (nat'l tour) and conducted Colm Wilkinson's last performance of Les Miz at the National Opera Theatre in Shanghai, China. He was assistant conductor on The Phantom of the Opera tour and has music directed various productions at the Ford's Theatre, the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis and Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park. With collaborator Rachel Lampert, he composed the scores for The Angle of the Sun (NYMF 2007) and Bed No Breakfast and Comfort Food (Kitchen Theatre, Ithaca NY). For two years, he was artistic director of Metro Theater Company in St. Louis.

"Anne:" Kate Ferber is excited to be a part of Deep Cover at NYMF! Recently seen in new musicals Factory Girls (Ars Nova and upcoming: NAMT), The Daughters (Joe's Pub), and starring in her one-woman original show One Child Born: The Music of Laura Nyro (The Laurie Beechman Theatre), co-written with Louis Greenstein. Previously she was seen as Sandra in All Shook Up (Media Theatre), Fantine in Les Miserables (Northern Stage Theatre) and Percy in The Spitfire Grill (Bristol Riverside Theatre). Other theatre credits: Asian Tour of Jekyll and Hyde (Emma), the Las Vegas production of Mamma Mia! Sarah in Frank Wildhorn's For the Glory (The Civil War), Stephen Flaherty and Frank Galati's Loving Repeating, The Full Monty (Estelle), The Baker's Wife (Genevieve), A Taste of Honey (Jo), Hair (Sheila), Company (Kathy).
