The New York Musical Theatre Festival, HOWMusical Inc., and DiStar Productions/Diana Glazer are pleased to announce the world premiere production of Deborah Abramson, Amanda Yesnowitz and Chip Zien's THE HISTORY OF WAR, with Brian Usifer as musical director, Darren Lee as choreographer, and directed by Nick Corley. THE HISTORY OF WAR will play a limited engagement at the Chernuchin Theatre-American Theatre of Actors (314 West 54th Street, NYC). Performances begin Friday, October 8 and continue through Saturday, October 16.

The History Of War is spun from the imagination of a 12-year-old boy - a megalomaniac in training. As he struggles with homework assignments and peculiar visions, he conjures up seven of the most famous tyrants of all time. They did horrible things. He wants to do horrible things. His parents are worried. ...and everybody sings! ... well, almost everybody. Reality and pathology neatly converge in this terrifyingly subversive new musical.

The production features a talented ensemble cast including 2 Tony© Nominees and several Broadway favorites: Paul Kandel (The Who's Tommy-Tony© Nominee, Disney's animated film The Hunchback of Notre Dame), Jason Kravits (The Drowsy Chaperone, Sly Fox-revival; TV: The Practice, Royal Pains, Sophie Hayden (The Most Happy Fella-revival- Tony© Nominee, The Diary Of Anne Frank with Natalie Portman), Jim Walton (42nd Street, Merrily We Roll Along, The Music Man-revival). Timothy Gulan (The Lion King, Blood Brothers, The Frogs), William Michals (South Pacific-revival, Beauty and the Beast), Herman Sebek (the Engineer in Miss Saigon, Cats), Eric Poindexter (TV: Saving Grace), Andrew Pandaleon (Play It Cool), Robbie Tann (Actors Theatre Of Louisville), and Michael D'addario (All My Sons, The Coast of Utopia) as 12-year-old Manfred.

The production features scenic design by James Maloof, costume design by Gail Baldoni (Emmy Nominee for Another World), lighting design by Jeff Croiter (Next Fall, The Pee-Wee Herman Show), sound design by Brandon Wolcott and projection design by Kate Freer and Dave Tennant of Room 404 Media. Donald Butchko is the production stage manager.
