It is the end of a fashion era: New York Fashion Week has been ordered to leave Lincoln Center after this February. A local blog, A Walk In The Park, reported that court documents, dated last Friday, December 12th, state that Lincoln Center, the city of New York and the parks and recreation department will not allow the organizers, IMG Fashion, to renew.

New York Fashion Week, along with other Private clients, has been allowed to take place in Damrosch Park Convention Center at Lincoln Center for years under the Bloomberg administration. Large events like the fashion week has destroyed much of the park and now it must be restored.

Lincoln Center and the City negogiated that the illegal use of Damrosch Park for non-park purposes, i.e. Private events, will be very rare and the settlement prohibits Fashion Week from ever renewing it's agreement. Their original 2010 agreement left a possibility for a 5-year renewal, making Lincoln Center home for NYFW until 2020. Now, Fashion Week needs a temporary home until it's permanent home at Hudson Yard's Culture Shed is complete.
