More colorful new social media images have been released this month to promote the forthcoming big screen edition of beloved family-friendly musical ANNIE and are now available to view in anticipation of the film's December release.

ANNIE is directed by Will Gluck from a script by Emma Thompson and Aline Brosh McKenna, starring Quvenzhane Wallis as Annie, Jamie Foxx as Benjamin Stacks (aka Daddy Warbucks), Cameron Diaz as Miss Hannigan along with Rose Byrne as Grace Farrell and Bobby Cannavale in a new role.

The starry roster of producers for the film include Will Smith and Jay Z, who also serves as music supervisor. Jay Z famously had a Top Ten hit with a rap version of the show's famous orphan theme "It's A Hard Knock Life" called "Hard Knock Life (Ghetto Anthem)".

The film is an all-new, modern-day adaptation of the stage musical, set in contemporary New York City, featuring numerous departures from the stage musical and subsequent film adaptations. Of note, the property was previously first filmed by famed director John Huston in 1982, starring Aileen Quinn as Annie and Albert Finney as Daddy Warbucks, as well as lensed by CHICAGO helmer Rob Marshall in 1999, starring Alicia Morton and Victor Garber.

The original stage musical of ANNIE was based on Harold Gray's 1924 comic strip LITTLE ORPHAN ANNIE and was directed by Martin Charnin, featuring music by Charles Strouse, lyrics by Charnin and a book by Thomas Meehan. Subsequently, the musical has been revived on Broadway twice, with the most recent revival playing at the Palace Theatre, directed by James Lapine and starring Lilla Crawford in the title role.

The big screen remake of ANNIE is set to be released on Christmas Day, 2014.
