Who doesn't love a room full of drag queens, boy singers and other talented performers performing a collection of whimsical and touching songs inspired by some of our favorite characters from childhood?
It's January, and that means it's time for New York City Drag personality Witti Repartee's annual Broads and Bawds Cabaret! This year's edition (the 6th!) is "The Rainbow Correction" and will be her encore presentation at The Triad Theatre on West 72nd Street on January 26th, 2019.
"Imagine a variety show starring a frog, a pig, a weirdo with his chicken, a funny bear and a dog on the piano," said Witti in a recent interview, "Now imagine all of the amazing music those furry friends might have created over the years, and you'll have an idea of where we're going with this."
John McMahon returns for his second year as musical director, with a cast featuring NYC drag performers Cicatrix, Aria Derci, "drag muppet" Shirley U Jest, Ruby Powers and Gina Tonic, singers Edd Clark, Mena' Flury and Mark Samson, our favorite Hoosier Mama, Cassidy Fellows-Summers returns from Indiana and the queen of Costa Rica, Scarlette Fiore is back for a second year. Rounding out the performers is composer Peter Saxe and company with a special group number.
Witti Repartee's Broads and Bawds 6: The Rainbow Correction is produced under the aegis of Kaleidoscope Collaborations, with co-founder Nick DiCeglie. Kaleidoscope Collaborations connects passionate artists and volunteers with progressive causes for the purpose of using their talents to raise awareness, build relationships and provide resources for non-profit organizations working to improve the lives of our neighbors and communities. All proceeds will benefit Iris House, a 26 year old organization founded to meet the needs of women and families impacted by HIV/AIDS in Harlem and the South Bronx.
A gorgeous piece of jewelry has been created and donated by MOANS Couture jewelry will be the focus of a progressive auction.
Tickets for Witti Repartee's Broads and Bawds Bachelorettes 6: The Rainbow Correction are $20 and there is a two drink minimum at the Triad Theatre. They are available online at http://www.tinyurl.com/WRBB6
