The New York Arm Wrestling Association (NYAWA) announced today that the Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and Bronx Week Food and Arts Festival will host the White Castle 28th Annual Bronxboro Arm Wrestling Championships on Sunday, May 22, 2011 at 1 p.m. The event will take place at the Bronx Week Food and Arts Festival on the Main Stage at Mosholu Parkway South and Van Cortlandt Ave. East - Bronx, NY. 10458. General admission is free. The event consists of both pro and amateur categories for men and women. Entry fees are $25 for Pros and $20 for Amateur NYAWA veteran members and include a free White Castle Arm Wrestling T-shirt. Entry is free for boys and girls 13 to 17, novice beginners and curious festival spectators. There are no residency requirements and contestants are encouraged to register/weigh-in early.
The White Castle Bronxboro Arm Wrestling Championships is the first preliminary event of the multi-event White Castle NY Golden Arm Series where individual championship events are held in each of the five NYC Boroughs, and Long Island and culminates into the 34th Annual White Castle Empire State Golden Arm Tournament of Champions to be held on November 17, 2011 at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC. The men's division will be divided into seven weight classes including a master's 45+ years and three left-handed classes; while the women's division will be divided into three weight classes. There will also be a team competition that will be broken down by borough, state, and country with the team winner being determined through a point tally. Awards will be given for first, second third place and the day's strongest male and female will be crowned Bronx Strongest Arms and receive a bonus $100 cash prize. Over 100 athletes will participate in the White Castle Bronxboro Championships from the NY tri-state area and far beyond, including last year's defending champions.
