Six months ago stand-up comedian and native New Yorker Dave Siegel took his act on the road... quite literally. He moved to Los Angeles to focus more on the writing end of comedy. But he hasn't forgotten his stand-up roots just yet. Siegel will be making his return to New York as he headlines Comix Comedy Club on Wednesday, April 14th at 7:30pm.
Upon his arrival in L.A. this past September, it didn't take Dave too long to start making noise within another spectrum of comedy. Twelve hours after his Comix show, Dave will be LA bound for the premier of his short film, 'Two In, One Out' at the Los Angeles Comedy Short Film Festival, April 15 - 18. Of over 800 submissions, producers of the festival chose 30 standout films to be screened in front some of the industry's finest actors, comedians and writers. Dave wrote the script 'Two In, One Out' then collaborated with Walleye Pictures & Sound to bring the office-place comedy to life. Quickly, the quirky short film set itself apart, originally being featured on Comedy Central's 'Atom TV.' Siegel also appears in 'Two In, One Out' with fellow New York comedians Ted Alexandro and Jay Larson.
"The film writing process is a very different kind of high than stand-up," says Siegel. "You get to sit back after your job is done and enjoy the rest of the process from the backseat. In stand-up, you're the driver, passenger and screaming kid in the back. It's all on you and sometimes you can't even stop for a sip of water.
'Two In, One Out' is just one of many films produced by Dave and Walleye Productions. They also partnered up and brought to life the infamously hysterical and unforgettable viral video 'White Guy Indifferent.'
Will Ferrell's extremely popular comedy website 'Funny or Die' took interest in 'White Guy' and featured it on their main page resulting in over 20,000 views in one day. This led to the making of 'White Guy Indifferent 2,' which has already been shot and is due out this month.
Staying true to his roots on stage, Dave is back in New York where it all began. This homecoming show will be a mix of new material and fan favorites, showing that Dave Siegel can bring laughs across many mediums and both coasts.
"I'll always do stand-up," says Siegel, "because no matter what other arenas of comedy I try my hand at, stand-up is still that pure challenge that I can't see myself ever losing the passion for."
