J Robert Spencer joined his fellow members of The Midtown Men (original cast members of JERSEY BOYS) at Seth Rudetsky's Sirius XM Live on Broadway Radio Show on Wednesday, March 30. The Midtown Men are currently thrilling audiences coast to coast with their concerts which celebrate the music of the 1960's including songs from The Beatles, The Jackson Five, The Mamas and The Papas, and of course, The Four Seasons.  The quartet treated Sirius//XM audience members to a rousing performance including such hits as "Working My Way Back to You" and "Breaking Up is Hard to Do".

While all four performers shared humorous anecdotes from their time together in JERSEY BOYS, J Robert Spencer became emotional when he shared his experiences playing Dan Goodman, a husband struggling with the devastating effects of his wife's bi-polar disorder, in Broadway's NEXT TO NORMAL.

"I knew the show was powerful", said Spencer, "but I wasn't expecting the reaction of audience members I would meet each day at the stage door. People who lived their whole lives with the effects of bi-polar disorder would thank me and tell me they felt like they were watching their own life on stage".

When asked by host Rudetsky if he took his sadness home with him each night, Spencer replied, "Oh I cried all the time... Even on my days off I needed to cry".

Spencer earned a Tony Award Nomination for Best Actor in a Musical in 2010 for his performance in NEXT TO NORMAL.

The Midtown Men will be appearing at Queens College Colden Auditorium on Saturday, April 9 at 8:00 pm.
