ARTS IN THE CITY, a new monthly magazine series from CUNY TV covering the people, places and events that make New York City a haven for the arts and for those enriched by them, makes its debut on CUNY TV in June, in celebration of the station's new over-the-air broadcast signal, Ch. 25.3, now available to viewers in the tri-state area.*

The new series, hosted by Magalie LaGuerre-Wilkinson, premieres Thursday, June 13 (2013) at 8 pm, will be repeated on Friday 6/14 at 10 am & 9:30 pm and Sunday 6/16 at 4 pm, and is available for viewing 24/7 on www.cuny.t .

Jeff Calhoun, Tony Award-nominated director of the Broadway musical "Newsies," is interviewed by LaGuerre-Wilkinson about his discovery of theatre, being mentored by director/choreographer Tommy Tune, the struggles and challenges of a life in the theatre, and the success and ultimate validation of "Newsies."

ARTS IN THE CITY goes on location to the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens, a vibrant high school founded by singer Tony Bennett and his wife, Susan Benedetto, and reports on Photography and the Civil War, an acclaimed exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Singer/songwriter Anthony D'Amato performs, summer movie blockbusters are highlighted by Pat Collins, and notable events around town are surveyed by Mike Gilliam. It's summer in the city!

Executive Producer of ARTS IN THE CITY is Robert Isaacson. Executives in Charge of Production for CUNY TV: Susan Iger and Gail Yancoskek. Producer: Graham Douglass.

*CUNY TV remains available to cable customers in the five boroughs of New York City on Ch. 75 (Time Warner and Cablevsion/Optimum), Ch. 77 (RCN) and Ch. 30 (Verizon). Ch. 25.3, the new broadcast channel, quadruples the number of households that now have access to the City University of New York television station and its rich variety of program strands and offerings.
