Deadline reports that NBC has locked a deal with playwright and screenwriter Neil LaBute for his new romantic comedy series HARMONY HOUSE.

Written and executive produced by LaBute, along with producer Aaron Kaplan, the show is set in a mental institution and follows a newbie psychiatric resident who falls in love with one of his patients.
LaBute also just signed with DIRECTV for a series of ten short films about human relationships. The project, called FULL CIRCLE, will debut next month.
His other TV and film writing credits include the upcoming Seconds of Pleasure, as well as Some Velvet Morning, screen adaptations of his plays Some Girl(s) and The Shape of Things, Stars in Shorts, The Wicker Man, In the Company of Men and more.The playwright's work was last seen off-Broadway in REASONS TO BE HAPPY, a companion piece to his award-winning play REASONS TO BE PRETTY, first produced at MCC Theater in 2008 before moving to Broadway, where it was nominated for three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Play. Other recent off-Broadway productions include Wrecks (2006), The Mercy Seat (2002) and The Shape of Things (2001).
