MusicalFare Theatre, Western New York's most awarded and only professional musical theatre company, presents the fourth production of its 2010-2011 Season, the hilarious and acclaimed 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE.

THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst as six adolescent outsiders vie for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest Broadway musical about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time. Featuring audience members who compete onstage, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE is being directed by Buffalo native and SPELLING BEE Broadway cast member, Greg Stuhr.

"Having Greg Stuhr be able to return to his hometown to direct a production of which he was a part of on Broadway is a unique experience for our audiences," notes Randall Kramer, MusicalFare Artistic and Executive Director. "Greg will be able to share the perspective shared by the Broadway company of SPELLING BEE. That's not something many theaters are able to claim when they mount this, or many other shows. And this production also continues MusicalFare's association with William Finn, one of Broadway's acclaimed modern composers. SPELLING BEE will join our two past productions of FALSETTOS and a past production of A NEW BRAIN in the list of Finn productions at the theatre and we couldn't be more thrilled."

The production stars Todd Benzin, Nicole Marrale Cimato, John N. Kaczorowski, Nicholas Lama, Debbie Pappas, Michele Marie Roberts, Marc Sacco, Norman Sham and Sara Elizabeth States. Set Design is by Chris Schenk, Lighting & Sound Design is by Chris Cavanagh, and Costume Design is by Kari Drozd.

The performance schedule is April 6th - May 15th, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:00pm, Fridays at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 4:00pm AND 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. There will be a special "half-price preview" on Tuesday, April 5th at 7:00pm. Meet-the-cast talkbacks take place after all Wednesday performances EXCEPT opening night, April 6th.
