Mufson, Roeca, Etc. Cast in The Porch, Running June 2-25

Casting has been announced for the world premiere of Kari Floren's new comedy The Porch, opening at Altered Stages (212 W. 29th Street – 2nd Floor, between 7th and 8th) on June 2nd and closing on June 25th.

The cast will includes Don Harvey (Yale School of Drama graduate, the upcoming film Anamorph), Lauren Mufson (Donna in Mamma Mia! on Broadway and on tour), Javier Munoz (In The Heights workshops at MTC and 37 Arts), and Shirley Roeca (Hecuba with Olympia Dukakis, and The Rose Tattoo at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco).

"The Porch is about four desperate souls all looking for a place to stop running. On one not-so-ordinary summer afternoon three guests show up at the same bed & breakfast that the innkeeper eagerly wants to shutter," state press notes. "Just short of being physically coerced into staying open, he allows them to stay while leaving them to their own devices. None of the group, including the innkeeper, is entirely stable making it only a matter of time before the porch becomes a battleground. Out of the darkness, however, a new day emerges, bringing hope and courage to unlikely allies."  Right Down Broadway Productions will present the play.

Floren has written the plays Incidental Lives, A Late Supper, and Voices of Swords (currently in development with actress Elizabeth Franz) She is a co-founder of Right Down Broadway Productions. RDBP produced her play, A Late Supper Off-Broadway at the Maverick Theater, and Incidental Lives was produced by New Avenue Theatre Project at Synchronicity Space.

Director Michael Berry is the Artistic Director of Regarde-Nous Theater Company. His credits include: Third Finger Left Hand by Randall David Cook, The Park Bench at the Blue Heron Theater, and 21 Stories: A Broadway Tale. As an actor, he has appeared in numerous Broadway productions, and he received a Drama Desk nomination for his performance in the Work's production of Moby Dick.

The rest of the artistic team includes: choreographer Nancy Lemenager (recent starring roles on Broadway include Brenda in Movin' Out and Penny in the Jerome Kern musical Never Gonna Dance), set designer Tamar Gadish, lighting designer Russel Phillip Drapkin (Dance with Me: The David Marquez Project at the Duke), and sound designer and composer Roger Murdock.

Right Down Broadway Productions is a not for profit production company that was created to bring together disparate elements of the theatrical community (Artists, Designers and Theatre Companies) to consolidate resources, revenues, experience and talent AND provide original, quality, theatrical entertainment to the public. Dedicated to fostering leadership and unity in the New York theater community and bringing new voices to the Off-Broadway Stage.

Performances run Tuesdays at 7 PM, Wednesdays-Saturdays at 8 PM, Saturday at 2 PM, and Sundays at 3 and 7 PM. There will be no matinees on 6/3 and 6/10 and no evening performances on 6/18 and 6/25.
