As reported earlier by BroadwayWorld, Rosie O'Donnell has set up a page on CharityBuzz to auction off a premium seat next to her for a performance of Hamilton, followed by a backstage visit with Lin-Manuel Miranda and the cast. The winning bid goes to support Rosie's Theater Kids (RTKids), an arts education organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children through the arts.
Another item O'Donnell is generously putting up for bids to support Rosie's Theater Kids is a costume worn by Boy George (George O'Dowd) in his role as Leigh Bowery in the Broadway production of TABOO.
Rosie O'Donnell co-produced the 2003 Broadway production of TABOO, an original musical with a score by Boy George, about the singer/songwriter's rise to fame as part of the English New Romanticism movement. The costume designs were by Mike Nicholls and Bobby Pearce.
Rosie's Theater Kids serves students who otherwise would not have the opportunity to experience theater, positively changing the trajectory of their lives by providing comprehensive classes in music, dance and drama; thoughtful mentoring; and structured academic guidance. Their goal is to inspire excellence, motivate learning, uplift the human spirit, build confidence, and spark a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Visit rosiestheaterkids.org
