Jorge Morales has been named as the new Senior Editor, Theater/Obies of The Village Voice, at which he will commence the job on October 25th.

According to an article in the famed alternative newspaper, "Morales will be responsible for administering the Village Voice Obie Awards, the Village Voice's annual award show honoring Off Broadway and Off-Off Broadway productions worthy of distinction," in addition to his editorial duties.

Morales, who holds degrees from the University of Puerto Rico and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, has previously written for The Village Voice; he contributed articles on theatre, film and literature since 2001.  Before that, he was the online editor for The Industry Standard, and the news editor and arts editor at the New York Daily News website prior to that job.  The Daily News has also featured his writing, as have The Advocate, The Believer, Seattle Weekly and The Industry Standard.
