Michael Cumpsty, Julianne Moore, David Hare, Lynn Redgrave, Vanessa Redgrave and Martin Short, among others, will join New York Times writers to discuss their careers and crafts as part of the annual New York Times Arts and Leisure Weekend, which will take place from January 5th through 7th, 2007.
On January 5th, John Darnton will interview Redgrave--the star of the upcoming The Year of Magical Thinking--as well as the play's author Joan Didion. Anthony Tommasini will chat with The Light in the Piaza director Bartlett Sher--who will be directing The Barber of Seville--as well as that opera's star Renee Fleming and Metropolitan Opera manager Peter Gelb.
Stephen Holden will talk to married cabaret stars John Pizzarelli and Jessica Molaskey (Parade) on January 6th.
On January 7th, Bill Goldstein will sit down with Cumpsty, Lynn Redgrave, author James Shapiro and Public Theatre Artistic Director Oskar Eustis. Moore and Hare, the respective star and playwright of the upcoming The Vertical Hour, as well as Fame Become Me's Martin Short, will be interviewed by Jesse Green.
Arts & Leisure Weekend is The Times' annual event of national and international celebrations of art and culture. The weekend includes a wide range of arts and leisure activities from interviews with celebrities to free admission at museums around the country and the world. Other participants this year will include Rufus Wainwright, Augusten Burroughs and Mikhail Baryshnikov.
