Essence.com recently interviewed Tony Award-nominee Montego Glover on her two roles -- as 'Felicia' in the Tony Award-winning Best Musical MEMPHIS, and as a role model for African-American performers and theatergoers.

Glover said, "I've had so many young African-Americans write me or tell me at the stage door how much they enjoyed, appreciated, were moved by my work, and how much they desire to do the work I'm doing right now. I always say to them, if you love acting, the theatre, then follow it as far as it will take you. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't want this too. And I have to believe that those same young men and women are part of the African-American presence in the theatre now, and will be the actors and actresses onstage drawing people in the future.

The complete interview can be read here.

Montego Glover originated the role of Felicia in MEMPHIS at the La Jolla Playhouse (IRNE Award Nomination, San Diego Theatre Critics Circle Award Nomination) and reprised the role at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre and Broadway's Shubert Theatre (Tony nomination, Drama Desk Award). Ms. Glover made her Broadway debut in The Color Purple (Celie and Nettie). Other roles include Ragtime (Sarah), Dreamgirls (Lorrell), Aida (Aida, IRNE Award) and Once on This Island (TiMoune, Helen Hayes Award Nomination).
