Mondays Dark Theatre Company ("Mondays Dark") today announced that the new play If You Start a Fire [Be Prepared to Burn] will open its 2012 season in New York City. The play will run from April 25 - May 20 at the Gene Frankel Theatre, located at 24 Bond Street, in Manhattan.

If You Start a Fire [Be Prepared to Burn], a sexual comedy penned by playwright Kevin Kautzman, follows a couple, Chris and Lucy, as they each explore surreptitious ways to survive the difficulties of the economic recession.

The production will be directed by Mondays Dark co-founder and resident director (and current producer of the Broadway production ofEvita) Kenny Howard, starring One Life to Live alumnus Lenny Platt, with costumes designed by Project Runway finalist Joshua McKinley.

"We are thrilled to present If You Start a Fire as Mondays Dark Theatre Company's first-ever production," stated Anthony Johnson, Mondays Dark Artistic Director. "The energy and inventiveness that this show offers - coupled with the opportunity to introduce a brilliant emerging playwright to New York's unparalleled theatre community - is exactly what we hope to present audiences for years to come."

"To be able to bring If You Start a Fire to the New York stage is a great opportunity," stated Kautzman. "I am thoroughly pleased to join such a talented group of artists on this production and am honored that Mondays Dark has given me such an amazing platform to showcase my work."

Founded by theatre enthusiasts Rob Hinderliter, Kenny Howard, Anthony Johnson and Dominick LaRuffa, Jr., Mondays Dark is a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to the development of new talent - writers, directors, designers and actors - as well as producing new works that provoke, inspire and entertain audiences.
