The Museum of Modern Art's Summergarden concert series returns to The Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden for four Sunday evenings beginning July 10, 2011. Summergarden, a tradition since 1971, is part of MoMA's long history of presenting contemporary classical music and jazz. MoMA once again welcomes the collaboration of the Juilliard School and Jazz at Lincoln Center, the Museum's programming partners.
Members of the New Juilliard Ensemble, under the artistic direction of Joel Sachs, offer two concerts on July 10 and 24, of recent American and European music that has never before been heard in New York. Jazz at Lincoln Center's concerts feature the compositions and ensembles of George Garzone (July 17) and Geri Allen (July 31), artists who have developed a unique sound and who will premiere new works for their established ensembles.
