Mitski Brings Guitar Driven Indie Rock to White Eagle Hall

Mitski - aka Mitski Miyawaki - the critically acclaimed indie songwriter - comes to White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, October 1st.

Known for her outsider perspectives and gritty sound, Mitski was born in Japan and grew up surrounded by her father's Smithsonian folk recordings and her mother's 1970s Japanese pop CDs. The family moved frequently, and her childhood included stints in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Malaysia, China and Turkey among other countries, before she moved to New York and studied music composition at SUNY Purchase.

This unique blend of influences helped create one of today's most distinctive, original, and critically acclaimed singer songwriters. Mitski has four studio albums, the most recent - Puberty 2 - was named one of Rolling Stone's top 50 Albums of 2016. "As technically proficient as it is unhinged and raw, Mitski opens up her personal world so we can all wallow along." - Rolling Stone.

Opening for Mitski at White Eagle Hall is Soccer Mommy, featuring Sophie Allison, a Nashville native, New York resident and music wunderkind. Sophie built her reputation as a DIY artist, recording her own songs and releasing them for free on Bandcamp. Her new album, Collection compiles the best of Soccer Mommy's Bandcamp work as well as new songs. "Soccer Mommy's songs are deeply affecting snapshots of being young in a looming city and trying to find your footing." - NPR music.

Originally constructed in 1910, the newly restored White Eagle Hall is an impressive new venue for arts and entertainment, including concerts, theater, performances and other events in The New York/New Jersey Metropolitan area. White Eagle Hall features complete Food & Beverage service, with two bars on the mezzanine level and one on the balcony level. The restoration enhanced the intimacy and charm of this historic venue while adding the latest in sound and lighting technology, creating a distinctive and memorable audience experience.
