Miro Magloire's New Chamber Ballet will pay homage to Claude Debussy on this 100th anniversary of the great composer's death with a world premiere by resident choreographer Constantine Baecher, former member of the Royal Danish Ballet, along with Magloire's "Two Friends," both set to music by Debussy. Also on the program are recently premiered Magloire works to music by contemporary Finnish composer Kaija Saariaho, April 6 & 7 at 8 PM in City Center Studio 5.

The Company will present the world premiere of a trio by Constantine Baecher set to Debussy's Children's Corner for piano. Baecher created his first work for New Chamber Ballet in 2006, and has been the company's resident choreographer since 2014.

Also set to music by Debussy, his whirlwind Violin Sonata, is Magloire's "Two Friends," a stormy friendship drama.

The program will be completed by two Magloire works, both premiered in February 2018, to music by Kaija Saariaho, a contemporary Finnish composer whose opera "L'amour de loin" was recently performed by the Metropolitan Opera.

Boston native Constantine Baecher was a member of the Royal Danish Ballet from 2003 to 2011, and has also performed with the Carolyn Carlson Company. He has created works for the Royal Danish Ballet, Kunst-Stoff San Francisco, MoveiUs (Washington DC), the Columbia Ballet Collaborative and Lake Tahoe Dance Collective. Baecher co-founded and directed Cross Connection Ballet and the Copenhagen International Choreography Competition. Aside from his concert work, recent projects for Baecher include choreographing for TV (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, The Detour), film (Nighthawks), and musicals (Passing Strange).

New company member Madeleine Williams trained in her native Australia at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, where she appeared in Balanchine's "Serenade," Xaio-Xiong Zhang's "Rite of Spring," and Nacho Duato's "Jardi Tancat." With the Academy's company, LINK Dance Company, Madeleine performed around the world, including China, France, and The Netherlands. She recently relocated to the U.S. and is a welcome addition to New Chamber Ballet.
