On October 23rd at 7:30 PM, cast members of the Mint Theatre Company's 1999 production of Harlevy Granville Barker's The Voysey Inheritance will reunite for a one-night-only reading.
Seven years ago, the Mint had a hit with its staging of The Voysey Inheritance, directed by Gus Kaikkoken and starring George Morfogen ("OZ"). The production was remounted in 2000 for a successful limited off-Broadway run.
In addition to Morfogen, original cast members Robert Boardman, Lisa Bostnar, Chet Carlin, Kurt Everhart, Jack Koenig, Sioux Madden, George Morfogen, Christ Scott-Reed, joined by Bradford Cover, Katie Firth, and Jennifer Harmon will be featured in the October 23rd reading.
In February 2007, the Mint will present Harley Granville-Barker's 1909 comedy The Madras House, also directed by Kaikkonen. "Barker's brilliant but unwieldy play has only been seen once in New York, in 1921 when it was presented by the Neighborhood Playhouse for 80 performances," according to press materials. The show asks the question "What are we to do about the overpowering distraction of sex?"
Currently, the Mint Theater Company is presenting an acclaimed revival of St. John Ervine's 1919 John Ferguson, which has been extended through October 29th.
John Ferguson takes place in the theater on the Third Floor of 311 West 43rd Street. Performances are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 7 PM, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 PM with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2 PM. Tickets are $45 and are available by calling (212) 315-0231 or online at www.minttheater.org.
