The Drama Desk and Obie Award-winning Mint Theater Company will present The National Asian-America Theatre Company production of Anton Chekhov's Ivanov, adapted from a translation by Paul Schmidt and directed by Mint Artistic Director Jonathan Bank, for a limited engagment at the Mint Theatre (311 West 43rd St., 5th Floor) from Tuesday, August 2nd to Sunday, September 5th.

The production transfers intact from the original NAATCO staging at Bernie West Theatre, where it originally ran from May 20 through June 4, 2005.  The New York Times' Jonathan Kalb wrote of the show: "Given how often Chekhov's Ivanov fails in production it's impressive how much is right in Jonathan Bank's staging for the National Asian American Theater Company… Mr. Bank deserves huzzahs for locating a consistent tone for the action. He has succeeded in fusing the play's intervals of slapstick jocularity with the main character's ponderousness, so that the plot proceeds as an integrated whole and the cast isn't tempted to overact in the histrionic passages."

Ivanov's cast features Michi Barall, Joel de la Fuente, Mel Duane Gionson, Keiko Green, Deepti Gupta, Mia Katigbak, Daniel Dae Kim, C.S. Lee, Orville Mendoza, Stephen Park, Rochele Tillman, and Virginia Wing.  The show's creative team comprises Sarah Lambert (sets), Elly van Horne (costumes), Stephen Petrilli (lighting), and Jane Shaw (sound).

Ivanov will play on the Fifth Floor of 311 West 43rd Street, while the Mint's production of John Galsworthy's The Skin Game continues on the Third Floor (through August 14th).

Performances will be Tuesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 PM, with matinees Saturday and Sunday at 2:30 PM.  Tickets, which are $35 if ordered before July 31st and $45 thereafter, are available by calling (212) 315-0231 or visiting www.minttheater.org.
