Stage and screen icon Liza Minnelli will guest star on tonight's episode of "Law & Order," which will air October 31st on NBC at 9 PM ET (check local listings).
The episode, entitled "Masquerade," will also feature Tony Award-winner Bill Irwin (The Goat, Whose Afraid of Virginia Woolf?). Minnelli will play a former beauty queen "whose daughter, Amberleigh was found murdered on Halloween night 1992, (and) is thrown back into the public eye when a pedophile in exile confesses to her murder. Detectives Goren and Eames aren't convinced it's that easy and re-question the mother, who was originally accused of the crime, as well as her informative, best-selling author neighbor, Nate Royce (Irwin)," according to NBC notes.
In addition to her Emmy for "Liza with a Z," Minnelli has won three Tony Awards, an Oscar, and two Golden Globes. She won a Theatre World Award for Best Foot Forward, Tony Awards for Flora, the Red Menace and The Act, and a Special Tony Award in 1974. She was nominated for an Oscar for The Sterile Cuckoo, and won the Oscar and the Golden Globe Award for the film version of Cabaret, directed by Bob Fosse. The daughter of Judy Garland, her other Broadway credits include The Rink, Chicago and Victor/Victoria, and she has also been seen on film in New York, New York, Arthur and others.
"Law & Order" also stars Chris Noth, Vincent D'Onfrio, Eric Bogosian, Kathryn Erbe and Julianne Nicholson.
