Miller Theatre at Columbia University Presents CHAMBER MUSIC OF GERMANY: J.S. BACH AND FRIENDS, 12/4

Trio Settecento makes its Miller Theatre debut Friday, December 4, 8:00PM with Chamber Music of Germany: J.S. Bach and Friends (Bach and the Baroque series).

Trio Settecento explores the magnificent chamber music of J.S. Bach and his German compatriots. The Chicago Tribune described the trio’s performance as “some of the most refreshing, life-enhancing Baroque playing heard in years.”  And Allan Kozinn of The New York Times wrote of Trio Settecento’s Rachel Barton Pine’s recent New York recital debut: “[She] played with a warm tone that stopped just short of lugubriousness, an approach that set up the sizzling finale perfectly.”

Performing on antique instruments, the three virtuosos breathe life into musical masterpieces that capture the dramatic intensity of the Italians, the poetic gestures of the French school, and the profound humanism of J. S. Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven. Trio Settecento’s authoritative interpretations renew the pleasures of hearing beloved music from the Age of Enlightenment while also revealing delights of new discoveries.
