"Miller & Shellabarger: Hiding in the Light" presents the collaborative work of two artists who are married. Their art work will be on display for free at Inova (2155 N. Prospect Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53202) April 20-July 15, with a special opening reception on April 20: 5-8pm.

Chicago-based artists Dutes Miller and Stan Shellabarger have, over the course of nearly 20 years, created a varied body of collaborative work that investigates issues of love, relationship, mortality, togetherness and existential separateness, endurance, physicality and even afterlife possibilities. In addition, their work forces their audience to ponder visibility vs. invisibility in a culture where their relationship, though quite visible through their work and their daily life, might be overlooked or dismissed.

Their creative output has taken many forms such as performance, installation, printmaking, bookmaking, drawing, collage and video. They have received critical attention both collaboratively and in their individual work, including the Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation, Artadia Individual Artist Award and a Peter S. Reed Foundation Grant as well as numerous critical reviews in Art Forum and New York Times, Chicago Sun Times, among others.
