The Milk Can Theatre Company has announced two upcoming productions running in rep Saturday, September 9 through Sunday, September 24, 2006 at the Michael Weller Theatre (311 West 43rd St., Suite 602).  The plays are Bethany Larsen's The Uncertainty Principle and Charles L. Mee's Trojan Women 2.0.

"Have you ever had that dream where you were falling?  What if you had that dream while you were wide awake?  When Cassie, a young and dissatisfied New Yorker, awakens in the middle of the night to find her apartment burning down, a Ringmaster with a penchant for physics takes her on a tour of her life to find out if it really is possible to have it all.  Based on Heisenberg's Uncertainly Principle and expanding it to a life-sized theory, this comedy-fantasy is written by 2006 Innovative Theatre Award Nominee Bethany Larsen and is directed by Milk Can Artistic Director Julie Fei-Fan Balzer.

The play was workshopped as part of the Milk Can Theatre Company's Scene, Herd, Uddered reading series in 2004 and 2005. The cast features Casey McClellan, Judy Chestnut, Tim Downey, Chris Kloko and Lauren Gleason.

"What happens when the world falls apart and we have to take responsibility for it? The thought-provoking and wholly relevant play, Trojan Women 2.0 is written by accomplished historian and author Charles Mee.  The play sets the play by Euripides in modern times, in which we see Troy in ruins and a world reduced to such disarray and anguish that it will never recover again but will, instead spread death and disorder in all directions.  Directed by Lauren Reinhard, Trojan Women 2.0 features Daniel Smith, Deborah Friedman, Elizabeth Days, Jennifer Cintron, Jessica Newton, Joe Sevier, Michael McGuire, Kenneth L. Naanep, Lindsay Drew, Mary Ellen Toomey, Mary Greenawalt, Michelle Miller, Nia Renee Hill, Satomi Blair, Teresa Wentzell and Malachy Orozco.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Julie Fei-Fan Balzer, The Milk Can Theatre Company strives to create, develop and produce new works and new visions of established texts, while involving and educating emerging theatre professionals, giving them an opportunity to hone and use their craft. Founded in the summer of 2003, Milk Can presents work at all levels of production: readings, developmental workshops and fully staged productions.  Operating on a two-year season cycle, the first half of the season is termed, 'a developmental season,' and the second, 'a production season.' Developmental seasons include several play development workshops, a ten-minute play festival and one main-stage play.   Production seasons include several workshops as well as four main-stage productions.

Both shows feature a design team of Carrie Mossman (Scenic Design), Michael Gugliotti (Lighting Design), David Withrow (Costume Design) and Nick Moore (Sound Design/Original Composition).
