Milan's 10 Corso Como store will open its first unit in China in Shanghai with a big event on September 12th. The store will be four levels and 27,000-square-foot, and will be designed and illustrated by American artist Kris Ruhs with black-and-white drawings flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows.

Carla Sozzani, who founded the original concept store in Milan back in 1990, told WWD, "Shanghai's vibrant art and fashion scene is an ideal location for our destination store. I love the proximity to Jing'an Temple and the park; it is a nice balance of modernity and tradition."

The store will carry labels from Azzedine Alaïa and Maison Martin Margiela to Fendi, Chloé and Jil Sander. "Fashion is a language I enjoy speaking. Listening, watching and understanding the language of fashion tells me a lot about what is going on in the world. It is something to enjoy and explore. For me, it inspires and motivates with ideas on the way to live and what is happening. It is a profound and critical part of our social fabric," said Sozzani.

The first floor will house design, cosmetics, 10 Corso Como branded products, a bookstore and pastry café. Fashion brands will be on the second floor, as well as a "su misura" corner for handmade tailoring designs. Also on the second floor will be space for events, special projects and collaborations with artists from China and the world. Then on the third floor shoppers will find women's fashion, and the Italian restaurant and lounge will be located on the top floor, as well as 10 Corso Como Shanghai's Gallery.
