Acclaimed author/storyteller Michele Carlo celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month and the two-year anniversary of the publication of her memoir "Fish Out Of Agua: My life on neither side of the (subway) tracks," by presenting a brief excerpt from its upcoming stage adaptation at La Casa Azul Bookstore in East Harlem on Friday, September 14th.
Carlo, a red-headed freckle-faced Latina who has lived in four of the city's five boroughs, and is a fixture in the city's storytelling community (The MOTH, The LIAR show, RISK), will discuss her experiences (and challenges) since becoming a published author-including the differences of writing for the "stage" and "the page." The free event, which will include a Q&A and book signing, will begin at 7:00pm. La Casa Azul is located at 143 E. 103rd Street (between Lexington & Park Aves) in Manhattan. Subway: #6 train to 103rd Street. Contact: (212) 426-2626 / lacasaazulbookstore@gmail.com.
