On Monday, February 22nd at 7 PM, Tom Kirdahy Productions and Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights AIDS will present a benefit reading of STILL AT RISK, a new play by Tim Pinckney (Message to Michael, Ever So Humble) benefiting The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center of New York City. Featuring a stellar cast from Broadway, TV and film, this one night event will be directed by Carl Andress (The Tribute Artist, The Divine Sister)
Kevin, a surviving activist from the front lines of the AIDS crisis, is struggling to find purpose in the current climate of greater gay rights. But times and attitudes have changed dramatically. Kevin's activist spirit is aroused when a gala celebrating heroes of the crisis overlooks his deceased partner. Constantly crashing up against generational change and contemporary culture, Kevin risks doing everything wrong in his attempt to make things right. STILL AT RISK is a funny, powerful look at the personal and political hazards of rewriting the past, and one person's attempt to move forward.
The cast of STILL AT RISK features Michael Berresse (A Chorus Line, The Light in the Piazza) Amy Hohn (November, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof), Francis Jue (Pacific Overtures, Madam Secretary) Matt McGrath (Steve, The Legend of Georgia McBride) and Michael Urie (Buyer and Cellar, The Temperamentals, Ugly Betty). There will be an informal reception with the cast and creative team following the reading.
"This play tells an important story that I'm excited to share with audiences" states Producer Tom Kirdahy. "With the generous assistance of Tom Viola and BC/EFA and this amazing cast, we are thrilled to welcome audiences to the wonderfully funny and challenging world of STILL AT RISK. And, of course, we are thrilled to promote and support the essential work of The Center."
Suggested donation for the event is $10. All proceeds benefit The Center. Reservations can be made at: StillAtRisk@tomkirdahy.com. The recently renovated Center is located at 208 West 13th Street, New York, New York 10011.
