Last week, BWW reported that The Village Voice announced a host of major staff cuts including its longtime columnist Michael Musto and chief theater critic Michael Feingold. The upheaval, which also included food critic Robert Sietsema, caused editors Will Bourne and Jessica Lustig to resign from the publication.
Today, the New York Post reports that Musto fans have not seen the last of him as he takes on a "slew of new gigs." "I'll be doing a weekly interview feature for Gawker, covering all manner of celebs and viral sensations," he told the Post. "I'm also doing a weekly column on Out.com called 'Musto the Musical!' It will span gossip, Broadway, movies, nightlife, everything. Also, I'll do a column in Advocate magazine."
According to The Post, Musto will also contribute to Scene and the New York Times. He recently had a cameo on NBC's "Smash" and appeared on Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live," hosted by Andy Cohen.
Musto, who had written for the Voice since 1984, is also the author of Downtown, and Manhattan on the Rocks. A selection of his columns has been published as La Dolce Musto. He is also a regular guest on television shows such as Countdown with Keith Olberman and programs on the E! network. He is published regularly in several gay publications, including Out Magazine and ShowPeople.
