Actor/comedian Michael McDonald will be doing a rare Los Angeles stand-up performance for one night only- tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 14th at 8 p.m. at the famed Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa Beach.
Michael McDonald is originally from Orange County, California. He is an alumnus of the famed Groundlings Theater in Los Angeles.
McDonald has recurring roles on the hit Showtime series "House Of Lies" and "Web Therapy." He can next be seen co-starring opposite Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy in the highly-anticipated 20th Century Fox comedy "The Heat." Directed by Paul Feig, the film will be released on June 28th.
His first professional writing and acting jobs came from Concorde Pictures, Roger Corman's infamous low-budget movie studio. Starting as an extra, McDonald quickly landed dozens of film roles, eventually moving behind the camera to write and direct for the studio.
In 2007, McDonald left "MADtv" to work both behind and in front of the camera on a variety of television shows and in film. He co-starred in all three "Austin Powers" films, has appeared on every season of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" and guest-starred on the hit series "Scrubs" and "Desperate Housewives." McDonald was a writer, director, and producer for several seasons of "Cougar Town" and has directed episodes of the hit series "2 Broke Girls," "Scrubs," "MADtv" and "7th Heaven."
In addition, McDonald continues to tour as a stand-up comedian, performing to sold-out audiences across the country. His first hour-long comedy special, titled "Michael McDonald: Model. Citizen.," aired on Showtime in 2010 and is now a best-selling DVD.
